With every monthly delivery, I'm reminded about their personal service. Our dog has a name, his recipe is for him, I know when they made it and the date for the next delivery. There’s science to this, a unique advantage (algorithm), which is all explained on their web site.
What they’re doing here is eroding the strangle hold that Mars and Nestle have on the supermarket shelves (think Pedigree, Cesar, Bakers, Winalot etc). Slick B2C database marketing, decent enough web site, compelling story on a small marketing budget. Whilst it’s the personalisation I love, they also solve another bug bear. Carting big bags or dozens of tins is a pain. Much easier when a van turns up every now and then with fresh supplies.
